The latest project of the trust is the building of a Carriage Storage Shed at Bodmin Parkway. When completed this summer the shed will be able to house up to 12 coaches. (4 coaches on each of 3 tracks). Bodmin Parkway has been used as long term storage sidings for many years but vehicles left here suffer from the cold and the damp. The new purpose built building will protect those vehicles waiting to be restored as well as those used infrequently. The Railway hopes to gain more historic vehicles in the future and this will be the ideal storage location. This project has been entirely funded by the Trust.

The first of many loads of concrete is seen here being transferred from road to rail at Charlie's Gate. The lorry completely blocks the unclassified road between the A38 near Parkway and Respryn whilst the radio controlled conveyor is extended over the skip and the concrete transferred. Left - At the construction site the concrete is poured into the foundations. Some of the holes are behind the buffer stops so the concrete has to be moved by hand in wheel barrows. One digger bucket full is one wheel barrow full. Many wheel barrow loads are required per hole and there is a lot of holes.

![]() Concrete sleepers are fitted in way of the door. A concrete sill will be installed here up to the top of rail height to enable the doors to close completely. |
![]() The scene on Monday 14th May. The building is virtually complete with only the doors to fit. Bodmin parkway now looks a lot tidier and the Railway's heritage fleet can be kept dry. |
![]() All three roads have now had many sleepers replaced and it is just possible to make out the concrete sleepers in the door way. This is one big shed! |

Parkway station in the distance behind the solitary wagon. All of the materials for the construction were brought in by train from Bodmin General. this included all the steel work, cladding sheets and the lift platforms. These platforms are carried transversely on the Lowmac wagon. The rough terrain forlklift (left, painted red in the distance) was driven down the line from Charlie's Gate. |
